the business

Allison & Susan started doing the krafty thing back in 2006, under a  pseudonym called Uisce Creations. Uisce means water in Gaelic (uisce beatha = water of life), and as they are both water signs & a wee bit Irish, they thought it was fitting. But one thing lead to another which lead to another which lead to starting anew with something that reflected where they are now more so than where they were, if that makes sense.

They thought to call the new rendition of Uisce Creations 'amrita lotus', which, oddly enough, 'amrita' means nectar of life in Sanskrit (and Rita is the name of Susan's mom), but then decided to go the Hawaiian route instead, because they both love the islands so much...

'Nani' means beauty or beautiful in Hawaiian (and maternal Grandmother in Hindi!) and thus Uisce became... Beautiful Lotus.

Allison chose a lotus simply because of its relation to Buddhism & the 8fold path... However, while the lotus flower is symbolic, in reality it is also a truly amazing creation of the Universe.

Now it's 2012 and while Uisce has gone byebye and Nani Lotus is solely Allison's, the two of them are still joined at the soulular hip, ergo Susan's services and products are still available via the site.

Random Fact: Allison's been in a hot air balloon, and while in it, ran into a tree. Upon landing, a family of 5 or 6 came outside and took photos of who dropped in for tea.
